Receptionist/ Call Center Representative

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Arrives patients via computer system; verify patient information, current referral if applicable, and provides appropriate paperwork to patient.
  • Collects applicable co-pay.
  • Direct patients to registration as appropriate.
  • Answers phones, transfers and/or directs calls during busy times.
  • Distributes medical record (if a medical records release form has been completed),x-rays, prescriptions, and medications to patients as authorized by other departments and left at the front desk for patient pick-up.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and other staff, including medical assistants, physicians, physician assistants, administrative assistants, etc…
  • When applicable, relays phone messages from patients to physicians and physician assistants.
  • Keeps waiting room neat and presentable at all times.
  • Explains and distributes privacy notice to new patients. Records in computer and give acknowledgement form to medical assistant for insertion into chart.
  • Maintains excellent communication with medical assistants and patients regarding wait times or physician delays.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.

Appointment Scheduler

  • Obtains the specified demographic information required
  • Acquires accurate insurance information
  • If they are a self-pay patient, advises them of the self-pay policy
  • Advises patient to obtain a referral if applicable with their insurance plan
  • Determines if the injury is a result of a MVA (motor vehicle accident) or WC (worker’s compensation), explains protocol and obtains pertinent information
  • Validates on-call appointments for non-participating insurances
  • Uses good judgment when determining urgency of the visit
  • Schedules patient appointments following office protocol
  • Obtain referring physician details updating patient and appointment details
  • Reschedules and cancels appointments as requested
  • Take Consults from the hospitals and forward appropriately

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Secondary training in business school or college preferred.
  • 1 Year of experience in a medical office as a receptionist/appointment scheduler a plus. Candidates will be courteous, articulate, reliable, and must be able to multi-task in a busy, professional, fast-moving environment while maintaining excellent customer service.OSG offers a pleasant professional work environment, competitive wages, and comprehensive benefits, including generous paid time off.
