Bio

Dr. Shyam Desai was born in India and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut. He attended Notre Dame High School (Fairfield, CT) and received his BA from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT), graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He earned an MD at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He then went on to complete his training with a fellowship in Pain Medicine at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

Dr. Desai offers the latest cutting-edge interventional pain management techniques and has a strong commitment to advancing the field of pain management. He believes in collaborative patient-centered care incorporating interventions and therapy to effectively manage acute and chronic pain. He is fluent in Gujarati and conversational in Hindi. During his free time, he enjoys hiking with his two dogs, going on long bike rides, kayaking, playing squash, and cheering on the New York Mets and Jets.
